So frequently when I meet with clients, we end up talking about all the wonderful things about Prince William County. We chat about location and convenience to so many places, like D.C. and the beach. We mention the beautiful, upscale neighborhoods, quality schools and excellent youth sports opportunities. And inevitably in those conversations, people share with me their favorite little “gems” — those spots that call to them over and over.
I’ve pulled together some of those PWC gems so that you too can explore these spectacular spots. They range from parks to shopping to playgrounds, but each is worth mentioning. I hope you take advantage of this beautiful fall weather and branch out to find a new favorite spot of your own here in Prince William County.
George Hellwig Memorial Park
So many families enjoy all this park has to offer. From the extensive, lighted sports fields where they watch their children play, to the updated, fully accessible playground for the kids, there is so much to love! The little library, nature trails, pavilions, and tot lot provide everyone with something to do. The park is home to fields suitable for baseball, soccer, lacrosse and football, and it has basketball and tennis courts. If you haven’t taken a family trip to check this spot out, give it a try for an action-packed, healthy day with the family!
Virginia Gateway
This expansive shopping center is home to more than 100 stores and restaurants, making it easy to take care of all your errands in one place. From specialty shops to the bigger stores we all need, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. In addition to shopping, check out their events calendar for free Zumba classes, wine tastings and more from the retailers. Tap into the free Wi-Fi and take care of everything in one spot!
Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center
When it comes to fitness, Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center has everything your family needs to stay in shape and have fun while doing it. From their Masters swim program and youth sports, to the fitness equipment and group classes, it’s easy to find activities to keep the mind active and the body sweating off the calories! They offer classes for homeschooled children, arts and education classes, dance and more. This is a fantastic spot for families to enrich their lives in so many different ways.
Milla’s Playland
Milla’s Playland is a favorite spot of kids under 6 and their parents! This fun toddler gym in Gainesville is perfect for younger kids to burn off energy while working on those motor skills! The fully indoor facility offers ride-on toys, a moon bounce, a dance floor and lots of opportunities for pretending — perfect for a rainy day.
